Located in the heart of downtown Boston, Chinatown is ideal for finding unusual souvenirs at bargain prices. Chinese immigrants began to settle in this neighbourhood during the 1880s and today the area around Beach Street has become the commercial hub of the district. The gate at the entrance to Chinatown, with a lion on each side, is one of its most photographed attractions. In addition to dozens of shops with all sorts of peculiar things for sale, there is also a lively food market and lots of Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants.
