Music, theatre, and dance at Grand Avenue
Music, dance, theatre… whatever you’re into, here you will find many options to enjoy.
A cultural offering for the afternoons.
Number 135 Grand Avenue, right in the historical centre of Los Angeles, contains two ideal venues for enjoying music. The first of these is the Walt Disney Concert Hall (www.laphil.com), a building which brings to mind the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, and for a good reason, as it was designed by the same architect, the famous Frank O. Gehry. Its unique design, featuring curves and waves, lined externally with stainless steel, represents a blooming rose. Inside, one can enjoy the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, one of the biggest in the United States, which offers regular shows, though at a very high price. Next door, the group of three adjacent buildings make up the Music Centre of Los Angeles (www.musiccenter.org). They are the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the Ahmanson Theatre, and the Mark Taper Forum. Over a million spectators turn up each year to enjoy the shows, among which we can highlight those offered by the Los Angeles Opera, at one time directed by Plácido Domingo. Its varied cultural offering also includes dance and theatre, as well as art festivals and all sorts of artistic and educational workshops.
