A refreshment amid the hubbub of Place Djemaa El Fna

Find a spot to relax amid the hubbub

One of the most authentic experiences for visitors to Marrakesh is to mix with the crowds that fill the Place Djemaa El Fna and let yourself be seduced by the scents drifting from the hundreds of traditional food stalls. So what should you order in one of these picturesque and improvised restaurants? Of course, you'll find the most typical recipes of Moroccan cuisine, such as couscous-couscous and meat, fish or vegetable tagines. You can also try dishes such as harira, a slightly spicy soup with coriander, lamb, beans and tomatoes or spiced meatballs known as kefta. For dessert, do not miss the Arab sweets made of pastry of honey. This is definitely the cheapest option in the whole of Marrakesh. Alternatively, the Place Djemaa El Fna also offers a broad spectrum of ideas for taking a breather and savouring a tea or a light lunch in one of the many restaurants and cafés around its perimeter, such as the legendary Café Argana or Café Glacier. Watching the sunset from the upper terraces of one of these establishments is a real spectacle.
