Go to a latteria
Addicted to cheese? Then Milan will drive you crazy with its infinite number of latterias.
Cheese heaven
The city streets conceal little paradises for cheese lovers. These are known as latterias. Their origins hark back to family farms in the north of the country where special cheeses were made. When you see a latteria as you make your way around the city, this is a sign of a traditional restaurant. When you enter, it's almost obligatory to try the cheese, but those looking for meat and vegetables will also leave satisfied. This is always washed down with some fine wine. If you're passing through the historic quarter, pop into the Latteria on Via San Marco, one of the city's most popular. Walking south, down from the Duomo, you have the Vecchia Latteria Vegetariana on Via Unione. So, if you spot a latteria sign while you're out and about, and you fancy something traditional, this is your kind of place.
