Historical prestige
Over three centuries of history attest to the brilliance of this state theatre company whose incredible reputation is built upon the tireless production of classics French plays. stage. Although many believe the company was created by Molière, it was actually founded in 1680, during the reign of Louis XIV, seven years after the playwright’s death. It consists of nearly 400 actors and since 2006 has been led by actor Muriel Mayette. Its repertoire is based on popular Gallic works, with scripts by great writers such as Molière himself, Victor Hugo or Racine.
