Stretching out on either side of Avenida Central, the districts of Los Yoses and La California will be of special interest to fans of 20th-century architecture. Los Yoses is home to numerous houses and blocks of flats, as well as embassies and some hotels, many constructed in a mid-20th-century international style strongly influenced by the United States. The residential neighbourhood of La California, a continuation of Escalante and Dent, also boasts some fine homes, and along Avenida Central and surrounding streets, some of San José's best nightlife.
