Just north of the Parque Nacional (Calle 15/Avenida 3), this museum is housed in the enormous National Centre of Culture, the onetime National Liquor Factory dating back to 1856, which also is home to a theatre and several outdoor sculptures. The museum displays quite a few works by contemporary artists both Costa Rican and international. Its 1,200 square metres (about 13,000 square feet) also includes a documentation centre, a videotheque, a shop, and a large outdoor space for artistic and cultural events. Open daily except Sunday 9:30 am to 5 pm.
