Santander's Big Week.
25 July is the Feast of Santiago, the patron saint of Santander. That is why the Big Week is scheduled for then every year and includes a range of traditional celebrations. The festivities usually flood the streets. Tents are set up where you can taste traditional foods. There are also concerts, competitions, workshops, fairs, merry-go-rounds and a myriad of activities for all audiences, spread out around the city. The Plaza Porticada is usually one of the main stages, as well as the Campa de la Magdalena, where pop and rock concerts are scheduled. Fireworks on the Sardinero beaches are also a tradition.
