The Liébana Valley is one of the most spectacular natural spots in the Cantabrian region. At the heart of it lies the Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana. This monastery treasures, together with Jerusalem, Rome, Santiago de Compostela and Caravaca de la Cruz, one of the fragments of the cross of Jesus. The relic is kept in the 18th-century, baroque chapel. Every Jubilee Year in Liébana, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims flock to the monastery to pass through the Holy Door.
