Prince Felipe Museum of Science of Valencia
Hands-on and multimedia, jewel in the crown of a groundbreaking, futuristic architectural complex
A Santiago de Calatrava masterpiece
The Valencia City of Arts and Sciences is an enormous cultural and entertainment complex that was key to the city's latest renaissance, of the late 1990s and early 2000s. A central component of the complex is the Museum of Science, designed by Spain's most famous starchitect of the moment, Santiago Calatrava. Its 26,000 square metres (280,000 sq. feet) are devoted to pure science as well as technology and the environment. Its Foucault pendulum (a large-scale device that dramatically demonstrates the earth's rotation) is one of the world's largest.
