With La Roja at Euro 2020 and other charter flights in June

Taking the Spain national football team to the group stage in Seville, among nearly 40 special flights operated in June.

Iberia is the official carrier for the Spain national football team during Euro 2020 and this month we have been flying our international players and the rest of La Roja to Seville, where the group stage of the European championship is currently being held. These special flights are known as charters, meaning that they don't form part of an airline's regular schedule but are organised for a specific destination and purpose, on specific dates, at the request of a travel agency or an organisation with special travel needs.

In June alone, including the carriage of the Spain national football team, Iberia will operate 39 charter flights: one every 20 hours. For example, without removing our football boots, we also flew La Rojita to Slovenia for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Still in the sports field, Iberia has been chosen for the first time to carry Formula E drivers and staff, and will fly them from Mexico to London on 21 June.

Commercial and holiday flights

In June we will also be maintaining a series of special flights to China (Madrid-Shanghai and Madrid-Hangzhou twice a week) that started in September 2020 and on which we carry cargo as well as passengers.

Lastly, Portugal's biggest travel agency, Abreu, will be using Iberia from June until October to operate one of its holiday charter flights: once a week from Lisbon and Porto to Porto Santo.

In July we head to the Olympics in Tokyo

Our sights are already set on July when Iberia will be the official and only airline for the Spanish Olympic Committee and the Olympic and Paralympic teams at Tokyo 2020: we'll be taking most of the athletes to the games on two flights from Madrid to Tokyo, on 15 and 17 July. For that occasion, we'll be using the largest and most modern aircraft in our fleet, the A350, which we've christened "Spanish Olympic Team".

From July to September we'll also be operating charter flights for cruises, commissioned by cruise lines to take their customers as close as possible to the ports from which the ships set sail.
