We've relaunched the Air Shuttle

More flexibility, more services and more flight options to choose from

You can now take advantage of our enhanced Air Shuttle. The new service maintains all the features of the previous Air Shuttle but now includes greater flexibility, is easier and more convenient to use, and offers more flight options thanks to the agreement reached with Vueling to operate the Madrid-Barcelona route jointly.

More turn up and fly

One of the new features you'll find is the possibility to book. As well as open tickets you can now buy closed tickets to guarantee your seat on the flight of your choice. These new closed tickets have all the flexibility of the previous tickets, which means that you can change them as many times as you want, completely free of charge.

All Air Shuttle services can be managed from the website as well as the Iberia app, which now includes new options like the following:

  • Buying open and closed tickets

  • Changing your booking as many times as necessary

  • • Downloading your boarding pass so you can go straight to the boarding gate when you arrive at airport

An initiative that reinforces the "turn up and fly" attribute and shortens the travel time even more. Boarding passes can be issued online at the time of purchase in the case of closed tickets and from 24 hours before the departure of the flight in the case of open tickets.

Dedicated areas

If you prefer to get your boarding pass at the airport, you can request it at the existing Air Shuttle dedicated areas up to 15 minutes before the departure of the flight. The security controls for all passengers with Air Shuttle tickets, either open or closed, are still situated in the same dedicated areas at the Madrid and Barcelona airports, while the aircraft will be located at the gates nearest to these points.

If you are travelling in Business, you can still use the VIP lounges near the boarding area.

More flights to choose from

As well as the 16 daily flights operated by Iberia, you can now also choose from 10 Vueling flights, enjoying all the benefits and features of the Air Shuttle service. This means that there are now up to 26 flights per day in each direction.

The two airlines are going to coordinate their schedules to cover all time slots and offer flights every 15 or 30 minutes at peak times and every hour the rest of the day, from 6:30 to 21:45, to reinforce the "turn up and fly" aspect of the Air Shuttle service.

All Air Shuttle tickets will have an Iberia code and will be available for purchase through Iberia.com, Serviberia, Air Shuttle offices and travel agencies. The booking systems and Iberia.com will clearly indicate the airline operating each flight. Iberia Plus members will still earn Avios, irrespective of the airline they fly with.

Iberia has also extended its Air Shuttle service to the Atocha and Sants railway stations, in Madrid and Barcelona respectively, so if you want to travel by train between the two capitals you will discover all the benefits and new features we have just introduced for the flights that cover this route.

We are using the taxis that service both stations as well as urban furniture to support our advertising campaign about the new Air Shuttle, which is now more “turn up and fly” than ever.

We've also improved our regular flights between Barcelona and Madrid

As well as relaunching the Air Shuttle, Vueling and Iberia will operate conventional flights between Barcelona and Madrid under a codeshare arrangement, providing an unbeatable range of services between the two cities with fares and times to meet all needs.

Passengers with these tickets must check in at the Iberia or Vueling desks (depending on the airline operating the flight) and pass through the security controls located in the general areas of terminals T1 in Barcelona and T4 in Madrid. These flights will be available for purchase through all channels and the fare will indicate the terms and conditions regarding changes, refunds, baggage and seat selection.

The Iberia and Vueling combined offer between Madrid and Barcelona, including both the Air Shuttle and conventional fares, comprises up to 26 flights in each direction on week days and up to 13 at the weekend, therefore providing an unrivalled range of services for all kinds of customers, regardless of whether they are travelling for business, taking a short break or connecting with other flights operated by the two airlines at their respective bases.
