This unique museum is dedicated to teaching and research into Near Eastern archaeology, history and culture. Its rooms are full of ceramics, sculptures, coins, Egyptian sarcophagi and countless other pieces offering an insight into the architecture, language and customs of ancient civilisations in Jordan, Iraq, Israel and Tunisia. Founded in 1889, it is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday and from 1pm to 4pm on Sundays. Entry to the building, at number 6 Divinity Avenue in Cambridge, is free.
