Graciosa Island
Unspoiled beaches, spectacular snorkelling/diving, a simpler way of life
Nearly a castaway experience
For outdoor fun that's a switch from Lanzarote's usual beach resort scene, consider a boat ride from the port town of Órzola out to very lightly developed Isla Graciosa, off Lanzarote's northwest corner. It has a handful of houses and shops, but no paved roads and no automotive traffic. It is rich, however, in unspoiled beaches and snorkelling/diving riches (thanks in part to one of the world's most abundant fish banks, off which the islanders still make most of their living). Various boats offer service between Órzola and Graciosa throughout the day.
