A mosque, a small fort, and some smashing views. Not a touristic area, but a highly recommendable one!
In the suburbs of Melilla.
Up in the most elevated part of the city, a suburban area called Reina Regente, you'll find a hill of the same name, where there's an interesting mosque with a striking minaret. It's not touristy in the slightest, but if you have any time to spare, it's worth a visit, as from up here you are rewarded with wonderful views over all of Melilla and surrounding areas. You'll also find Reina Regente Fort, built in 1894-95 to form part of the city's defense perimeter. It's a modest octagonal structure with two storeys, but not open to the public, as it is still in active use by the Spanish armed forces.
