Take a break from touring the historic downtown, feed the pigeons, contemplate a key historic monument.
A downtown square commemorating the onetime Central American Federation
Though centrally located between 2 Avenida Sur and 1 Calle Oriente in the historic centre, this square offers a bit of an oasis from the surrounding urban bustle. You'll notice, first off, flocks of pigeons, with people strolling among them or feeding them from benches. The focal point here is the monument to Francisco Morazán, the martyred first president of the Central American Federation. In front of this you can see the National Theatre on the south end, while a bit farther down is the Metropolitan Cathedral. It makes a nice spot to rest during your exploration of this part of the city.
