Night time aperitifs.
If you'd like to get know Milan, do it like the Milanese. One of the things to get to know is the aperitivo, or aperitif. The best area to get to know it is Navigli due to its quality, quantity and atmosphere. However, you can try it in many bars or cafeterias throughout the city such as L'Elephant or Skip Intro in the Porta Venezia area. It can work for dinner after a day of sightseeing as it's not taken before food apart from at night. Normally you are offered a board of appetisers when you order a cocktail or a glass of wine. This is one of the most recommendable ways to try different dishes, both traditional and modern, combining perfectly with the atmosphere of the city at night. Bear in mind that it can be difficult to find places that aren't jam-packed from eight o'clock and that the kitchens normally close around ten-thirty.
