A tribute to the area's most important poet
Famous as a tribute to Nicaragua's most significant poet, and one of the most distinguished representatives of Modernism in the Spanish language, Rubén Darío, this park, located in the old town next to Parque Central, contains a monument in his honour, as well as a sculptural work in Carrara marble by the same sculptor, a pond and several allegories designed by the Italian architect Mario Favilli. The park was restored in 1997, and also houses an obelisk dating from 1899, erected to welcome the new century and commemorate the milestones that occurred in the last.
