Rural Community of San Jacinto
Tourists will discover and participate in rural life in a fumarole field.
An indigenous rural environment
Moving from the city to the rural environment, tourists have the opportunity to discover the customs of peasants in the department of León, where the community inhabits a small population hub sitting atop a zone of weak volcanic activity. Their hot springs and fumaroles were deemed deserving of project funding from the European Union and the Government of Nicaragua: this has fostered the development of small- and medium-sized businesses, who offer services to tourists. In addition to spectacular nature, the Rural Community of San Jacinto offers a wide range of activities, such as horseback riding, traditional cooking lessons and artisanal sweet tastings. Tourists who support or are passionate about rural sustainability will discover the native populations' approach to day-to-day life in this community, while visitors can also admire fissures in the earth's crust, boiling mud and water vapour emissions, as well as the other agents that form part of the Telica-Rota-Santa Clara Volcano Complex.
