Pinchos morunos - meat kebabs, a local specialty.
You'll find these treats all over Melilla, but the best are in Casa Sadia.
Beef or chicken on a skewer.
In the bars of Melilla, among the most traditional and ubiquitous of foods are the pinchos morunos - skewered, heavily spiced beef or chicken kebabs (hardly ever pork) - sometimes served as tapas. One of the places that does them best is the venerable Casa Sadia, located in a downtown alleyway of the same name. It's been in operation since 1938, is always full, and has a large, pleasant terrace for sitting outside. And another interesting thing to note is that the creator of the restaurant was Jewish - and in fact, the place is located right alongside a synagogue. If, by the way, you have trouble finding it, just ask any local!
