Good shopping, special prices, great architecture!
The downtown and Modernista commercial district.
The so-called Golden Triangle doesn't allude so much what other cities refer to as their "golden miles" but rather to an area that's home to some of Melilla's most recognisable Modernista buildings. These days, this area, which begins at Plaza de España and continues along the long Avenida Juan Carlos I, brings together the city's largest concentration of retail establishments, from small local boutiques to branches of major international brands. You'll find every type of product including clothing and accessories, as well as many shops dealing in crafts, earthenware, and jewelry. It's truly the perfect spot to do most if not all of your shopping in Melilla - and furthermore, you'll find prices more attractive here than on mainland Spain, thanks to the sales tax breaks afforded to local residents.
