Porta Portese. The Sunday market in Trastevere.

A multicultural Market in a charming neighbourhood

First thing on Sunday mornings, a huge varied market invades the Trastevere neighbourhood. That is the Porta Portese market: one of the most popular flea markets in Rome because of the time it has been there and its size. More than 4,000 stalls, street concerts, coloured decorations and a happy atmosphere, make this market a memorable experience and it is typically Roman. On the stalls you'll find everything from antiques and collections of vinyl records, to clothing and footwear, as well as typical Roman food, incense and candles. Here, everything is possible. The variety on the stalls, the multicultural stands and lively environment, with concerts and music on almost every street makes it the city's most popular flea market. By the way, we recommend you start from Porta Portese, the most recent city gate, which gives its name to the market. It will be easier for you to go down the narrow streets in the neighbourhood. Just one warning: keep an eye on your belongings, although the atmosphere is very pleasant, you shouldn't get distracted.
