The Spanish colony archive.
All documentation related to the administration of Spanish colonies with more than 8,000 drawings and colony maps are stored in this archive of great national and international reference, which was ordered by Carlos III. Since the 'archivo de las Indias' is very important, it was declared by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The archive was placed in this building which is named the 'Casa Lonja de Mercaderes de Sevilla' and it's worth a visit to enjoy its inner patio which is made of stone and plenty of arches and windows. There are temporary exhibitions on the first floor of the building, so make the most of your visit by going to see them! The 'Archivo General de Indias' is open every day and entry is free of charge.
