All famous people must dream of being buried here... Molière, Edith Piaf, even Chopin and Jim Morrison have all been laid to rest within its walls.
The bodies of Oscar Wilde, Chopin, Delacroix, La Fontaine, Marcel Proust, Balzac, Colette, Géricault, Sarah Bernhardt, Pissarro, Ingres, Champollion, Edith Piaf and even Molière himself are all buried in the exclusive Père Lachaise cemetery, one of the most unique tourist attractions in the city. It is also said to be the final resting place of the medieval lovers Heloise and Abelard. Jim Morrison was one of the last stars to be buried here, who in 1971 added his name to the lengthy list of celebrities honoured with a place in this 48 hectare cemetery. You’ll find it in the twentieth arrondissement and maps can be purchased from the nearby kiosks with directions to the most famous graves.
