The fact that Tel Aviv is located right on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea means that visitors have access to some marvelous fresh local seafood. The city's star fish dish is called chraime, North African in origin and traditionally prepared for Shabat by Sephardic Jews. Spices such as paprika are added to whitefish (usually sole, halibut, or cod), followed by tomatoes and olive oil. Oftentimes it will be accompanied by a sauce called pipelchuma, also from North Africa. Now all you need to do is find a nice outdoor spot in Tel Aviv's port to enjoy it while gazing out over the sea.
