Luis Seoane Foundation, Afundación and Barrié Foundation
Though different in focus, these three foundations offer a chance to experience local culture in a more profound way.
Three foundations with a wealth of sociocultural offerings.
The granite-and-glass Luis Seoane Foundation, housed in a renovated barracks on Calle San Francisco in the heart of the city's Old Town, is devoted to the intellectual legacy of the Argentina-born artist Seoane, and also stages exhibitions of contemporary culture including cinema, theatre, pop culture, architecture, video arts, and more. Afundación (Cantón Grande 21), meanwhile, is an avant-garde bit of business by British architect Nicholas Grimshaw dubbed "the glass wave", which runs regular exhibitions and art shows as well as music, dance, and theatre performance. Finaly, the Barrié Foundation focuses on sustainable development , education, and encouraging local talent.
