The Cabrales cheese cave

A very special flavour.

You simply must not leave Asturias without trying its magnificent Cabrales cheese, but what exactly is this unusual and delicious dairy delight? In this exhibition in Arenas de Cabrales, just a half hour from Llanes and Cangas de Onís, you'll learn not just how the cheese is made, but also all about the historical and technological advances that have made it what it is today. During a guided visit in a natural cave, you'll discover the history of cheese, how it is made and how local shepherds care for their animals in the Picos de Europa mountains, thereby making this cheese possible. At the end of the tour you'll enjoy a very tasty sampling, and you'll leave with a whole new perspective on cheese (not to mention Cabrales' characteristic aroma clinging to your body). Admission 4.50 euros. More information:
