Discover the city aboard a carriage
It is common for children to throw in objects made of palm leaves; don't forget to reward them with a coin!
An interesting ride for any traveller
An experience to meet every budget can be to plan a ride in one of the typical horse-drawn carriages. Bear in mind that, just as everything in Marrakesh, the price and the ride are more than negotiable. The best way to start your trip is to head for the Place Djemaa El Fna or the Koutoubia Mosque where the majority of the carriages offering these rides are shored. The most typical rides last around two hours and, after a brief haggle, you should not pay more than 200-250 dirhams. Another great option for discovering the city's best-kept secrets in comfort is to travel in one of the taxis that circulate the city. Hiring a ride in one of these famous vehicles - no other than nice old Mercedes with a six-person capacity - will not set you back more than 50-60 dirhams.
