Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Its giant glass roof and its golden dome define the city's most important shopping centre.
Milan's living room
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is Milan's first and most important shopping centre. This is one of the city's most popular and important buildings. Built in 1865 next to the Plaza del Duomo, it is identifiable due to its enormous glass roof resting on a giant golden dome. Inside boasts all the main fashion stories as well as many restaurants. All premises have a high aesthetic homogeneity because, as a condition to open here, the black and gold colour scheme of the building must be respected. Each area of this mall is meticulously maintained and sitting on one of its terraces is a treat for the senses. The combination of its décor, the history of the building, and the pleasant atmosphere is the reason why it is known as Milan's Living Room.
