Thousands of paintings, photographs, and personal objects of sports stars.
The soul of French sport
We are talking about the most recent museum that you can find in Nice, as it opened in June, 2014. As you would have expected, it is located in the modern Stade Allianz Riviera, and it accommodates more than 100,000 objects related to all branches of sport ranging from the 16th century to the present day. What will you find here? The permanent exhibitions display such curious objects such as the gloves and the shorts worn by the boxer Marcel Cerdan; the football used to dispute the 1998 World Cup Final; Olympic torches, and many other items that belonged to the French and most honoured sportspeople. The collection is divided into four different parts according to individual or team sports, and it also has a huge collection of paintings, photographs and sculptures related to this noble art, among which include some by Gustave Doré. Sounds interesting, doesn't it?
