This is the stage for the most important concerts and performances hosted in the capital
Arts and high culture
The Rubén Dario National Theatre was inaugurated in 1969, and is more than just the setting for the capital's most important concerts and performances; it also serves as the centre for an incredibly diverse range of activities. The building's architectural intrigue is equally significant: it is one of the few buildings that was not levelled or significantly damaged by the 1972 earthquake, three years after its construction. The theatre comprises several spaces, dedicated to various events. The lobby serves as a space for conferences and new book launches, as well as the spot for attending charming concerts and admiring art exhibitions. The Salón de los Cristales (Crystal Hallway) features two candelabras donated by Spain; it hosts exhibitions and concerts. The Main Hall seats 1,200 and has a large stage that is used for major recitals and performances.
