Uruguay, known as the Banda Oriental in Colonial times, is the second smallest country in South America, and the only one to be fully located entirely within a temperate zone. This means that it enjoys a stable and temperate climate throughout the year, and therefore visits to both its cities and its beaches can be planned at any time of the year.
