A true culinary tradition
It is not easy to establish the border between Fuerteventura's gastronomy and the rest of the Canary Islands, as they all have a remote and desert-like history that was mixed for centuries with the civilizations that arrived to these lands, from the different crowns of European dynasties, to the colonial cultures from the American continent. The famous dish of papas arrugadas (or crinkle-cut chips) came from the American continent and it's definitely one of the most popular dishes in the archipelago. On this occasion, we suggest a really interesting variation for you: papas arrugadas with pejines - a real symbol of island gastronomy. Pejines are small and typical fish from these local waters which are dried in the sun and then either oven cooked or flame-grilled.
