"Party island" Ibiza may be perceived to be, but it also has a millennia-long, hugely historic pedigree, and the pride of capital Eivissa is Dalt Vila ("Upper Town"), a walled UNESCO World Heritage Site up on a seaside hill, with whitewashed houses and a labyrinth of narrow, sometimes steep cobblestone lanes and magical corners where you can really feel yourself transported back centuries. Popular day and night, it's rich with shops, eateries, museums, and galleries, and many visitors find themselves back here repeatedly during their stays.
