Crafts and second-hand stuff predominate in this Sunday-morning affair in the hamlet of Argual
A cute little market amid picturesque surroundings
The township of Los Llanos de Aridane in the central west of La Palma includes quite a few hamlets amid banana fields. One of the most notable is Argual, because every Sunday morning from 9 am to 1 pm, it holds in its Plaza de Sotomayor an interesting little open-air crafts and flea market. You can also buy typical local comestibles, catch demonstrations such as glassblowing, and check out the plaza's lovely old surrounding buildings, dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries - once homes of distinguished families like Vélez de Ontanilla, Poggio Maldonado, Sotomayor, and Massieu Van Dalle.
