Shopping on O'Daly Street

Where the buys are

Santa Cruz's main high street is named for Irish-descended local businessman Dionisio O'Daly (honoured for his role in helping overthrow an entrenched elite in 1773, allowing for Spain's first democratic municipal elections). Today, besides being an attractive thoroughfare indeed, it's also unsurprisingly the city's main shopping destination. In addition to quite a few banks with ATMs, there is a wide variety of shops, with standouts including Venus Moda (, specialising in women's clothing and accessories, and La Molina Artesanía (, with a variety of locally made La Palma products perfect for mementos and gifts.
