Bodacious botany, with more than 4,500 species of flora as well as curated exhibitions of their impact on human cultures
Visitors with a special interest in flora (and also fauna) should definitely slot some time for the University of Valencia's centrally located Jardí Botànic, whose greenhouses and gardens are home to more than 4,500 species of plants. They're divided into different areas according to regional ecosystems, and there's also a large botanical school section which takes visitors on a journey of human use of plants throughout history, elucidating the role of flora in different cultures. Particularly outstanding is the palm collection, one of Europe's largest; a section drawing attention to endangered species; and exhibitions branching out into the animal kingdom, such as an aquarium and aviary.
