Papagallo Restaurant
At "the Parrot", Bolognese classics amid Old World elegance plus an extra touch of glam
Lasagna of the stars
In "Bologna the Fat", there's naturally no shortage of restaurants in which to enjoy its exquisite cuisine in ambiance from simple to refined. One extra-special example of the latter is Papagallo (which means "parrot"), on the central Piazza della Mercanzia. An old building converted into one of the city's foremost culinary institutions, its charmingly Old-World décor is given an extra glamorous twist by photos of the many Italian and international celebrities who have broken bread at these tables. The menu is predictable (in a good way, with all the Bolognese/Emilian classics, impeccably executed) and the wine list superb.
