Puerto Libertad Market
On a dock stretching into the water, fishmongers do their thing - come and check out the catch!
An atmospheric fish market in El Salvador's main fishing port.
Some 30 kilometres (18 miles) south of the capital the port town of La Libertad is all about fishing and the sea. You'll see it especially in action right on the waterfront, where a long, partly roofed pier reaching out into the harbour is lined with tables and stalls where fishmongers clean and sell their catch. Lining the waterfront are restaurants where you might then sit down for some of that fresh fish, literally right off the boat.
