Electronic rhythms in one of the city’s dearest areas.
Party time guaranteed until late into the early hours.
Another outstanding part of the harbour town area is Foz. It rises up over East Porto and lays claim to being one of the most expensive places in the metropolis. It is here precisely in the Foz do Douro that the river Duero meets the Atlantic, a factor which has turned it into one of the most privileged spots in the city. Foz is also the home of two of Porto’s premier nightspots, the Trintaeum (where a visit is obligatory if losing yourself in avant-garde electronic music is your thing,) and The Industry, (another disco that has never gone out of fashion). If you want to stop off half-way to take a cold drink when you move on from the Ribeira – where nights tend to begin with a glass or two- down to Foz- where the most enthusiastic turn up to finish them off-, then you could do so in an unusual little place like Maré alta (whose name means ‘High tide’), which is nothing more than a type of bar and floating disco on the river Duero which is to be found at Cais de Massarelos.
