A recommended excursion.
Around 60 kilometres south of Santander is one of the region’s most important villages, in an elclave that has been the door from Cantabria to Castile for many years. This is where you will find one of Cantabria’s main industrial and economic areas, as well as the beginning of the Ebro River. Amid all of this, is a beautiful village that is actually the capital of Campoo Valley. This is one of the best excursions to the interior of the region, and is also where one of the most Cantabrian tasty treats is made: pantortillas. This unusual pastry in the form of a tart is one of the most delicious and sought-after delicacies in Cantabria. It is popular to buy a box of pantortillas at Casa Vejo to bring back as a souvenir.
