Music, dance and cinema in this converted cinema that has made a big name for itself across the city.
Iconic evening venue.
Evenings out in Montevideo changed forever at the end of 2009, with the opening of this already iconic symbol of the Uruguayan capital. Sala Zitarrosa is a fascinating cultural space located in the former Cine Rex cinema. Remodelled to welcome over 500 people, this venue is becoming increasingly popular thanks to its regularly updated and highly coveted programme including concerts from highly renown artists, dance shows, audio-visual screenings and important cultural events that never fail to impress. In a clear statement of intent, it is named after the legendary Uruguayan musician Alfredo Zitarrosa. Located in the heart of the city, it is one of the best-loved artistic symbols of Montevideo.
