Aloe vera thrives on Lanzarote, and here you can learn more than you ever thought you wanted to know about this remarkable medicinal plant
Say 'ello to aloe
Lanzarote's arid regions have proved fertile ground for the cultivation of aloe vera, the spiky green plant touted for its medicinal properties as far back as the time of Alexander the Great, Aristotle, and even ancient Egypt, but rediscovered by science only in the 20th century. This museum in the town of Haría is a full-featured centre of interpretation which covers everything from the cultivation to harvesting to processing to the science and history surrounding aloe vera. Open Monday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm.
