Many regions of Lanzarote, as the other Canary Islands, are arid, and this of course provides a congenial environment for desert plants such as cactus... and this park is the perfect example. The last project of iconic Lanzarote architect/artist César Manrote, in 1991, the Jardín de Cactos is an amphiteatre-like complex of more than a thousand square metres (just under 11,000 square feet), with more than 7,000 specimens of more than 1,000 species of cactus from all over the world. It's open 10 am to 5:45 pm, and there's a café for pit stops.
