A well-deserved respite with lovely views - what could be better?
A seaside oasis.
Charles Clore Garden can be found at the edge of the old quarter of Jaffa, the city's old town in Tel Aviv's south, and stands out as both a "green lung" and a placid hideaway in a hectic neighbourhood. There's also something particularly inspiring, after navigating the stout fortifications and narrow, convoluted lanes of the old quarter, about suddenly emerging onto these open spaces, with the horizon opening before your eyes, the endless Mediterranean Sea before you and the urban skyline behind you. The park inspires such peace that many Tel Aviv families can be seen praying here in the afternoons before Shabbat begins. It's moments like these that are especially Israeli, and you won't see anywhere else in the world.
