North Station

One of Spain's handsomest historic train stations

The Estació del Nord (Estación del Norte, also referred to as Valencia-Término), is the city's main railway station, and is distinguished not just by its hustle and bustle of humanity - around 15 million passengers yearly - but also the distinctive, slender Modernist (Art Nouveau) style that's made it one of the city's most recognisable landmarks since first shouting "all aboard!" in 1917. Its detailed ornamentation and tiled walls impress considerably with their depictions of typical Valencian motifs, such as regional agricultural products. The mosaics on the majestic main entryway were created by José Mongrell, one of Valencia's most important painters of the late 19th and early 20th century. It's certainly one of the most popular selfie backdrops for visitors.
