The Parque de Chapultepec, a green breathing space for the city with much to offer
The chaos in the DF demands an oasis of peace and quiet: Chapultepec is that oasis.
Detoxifying green area.
A city as massive and densely populated as Mexico needs places where people can go to relax and breathe, and that is precisely what can be found in the Parque de Chapultepec, a true lung for the capital and home of the Zoo. If possible, try to go on a weekday morning, and you'll find free boats to row in one of its two lakes, or go for a walk, or even for a run on the running circuits. And don't worry about the kids. They will be more than happy in the "La Tapatia" play area, expressly created for children, where they will find all they could want, from swings to trampolines. You can also just go for a walk admiring the seven monumental fountains scattered around the park, in particular the Fuente de Tláloc or the Fuente de las Víboras, with its four giant serpents that become one. The first one, equally impressive when seen from above or from up close, features a sculpture of the Aztec water god Tláloc, covered in mosaic and coloured stone, reclining in a pond.
