Tudanca Mansion

Cossio's home.

Tundanca Mansion was the Cantabrian residence of Maria de Cossio, a leading figure of the region. This writer from Valladolid decided to settle in Tudanca due to her love for this area. In addition to having written several works about the region, Cossio created a type of meetinghouse for friends and fellow writers in his own abode. One of his friends was Rafael Alberti, who also wrote about the mansion. When he died, the owner handed over his home on the condition that it was to be opened to the public, including the meetinghouse and the extensive library that holds over 18,000 works. Among these, you will find works by his friends (many of whom were part of Generation 27), his own manuscripts and other priceless works. Located around 50 kilometres from the capital, just a visit to the building itself, which is right at the heart of Cantabria, is worth a visit.
