Located in the Bogota savanna, on a high plateau on the eastern range of the Colombian Andes, the capital of Colombia finds itself at exactly 2,630 metres above sea level. The combination of altitude, its mild climate and average temperature of 15°C mean that the sky is overcast for two thirds of the year. The Old Town exudes its colonial past in places such as Bolívar Square (where you will find the Primada Cathedral), the Candelaria district (the most traditional of the city, with cobblestone streets and lowslung, brightly coloured houses) and the Monserrate Sanctuary on top of Monserrate hill. Religious pilgrims gather here, and it is considered one of the largest natural and religious attractions of the area.

If you are taking a flight to Bogotá, you should be aware that it is six hours behind Spanish time and has a climate where summers are overcast and comfortable and winters are short, cool, damp and mostly cloudy. During the year, the temperature generally ranges from 7 °C to 19 °C and rarely falls below 3 °C or rises above 21 °C.

In addition, if you fly to Bogotá, you will be able to try Colombian food with its roots, especially the cassava and the potato, accompanied by meat or fish. Corn and rice are also widely eaten, as is wheat, used in different types of flour. The main pulses eaten are lentils and peas, and bananas are very important in Colombian gastronomy.
