Amid cobblestone lanes and centuries-old, still operating hydraulic machines, demonstrations of how they lived back in the day.
A restored medieval village comes alive.
This restored medieval village nestled amid bucolic greenery just outside the town of Taramundi, in Asturias' far west, showcases not just traditional buildings including those typically Asturian raised hórreos (graineries) but also the local dam, and how villagers used water to power various hydraulic devices such as a grain mill, a tool sharpener, even, in later years, a small electrical generator which can keep lightbulbs lit. You can get a tour, see demonstrations, and even dine on local homestyle cooking at the village inn.
